The Non-Governmental Group of the Arab Network for Integrity and Anti-Corruption held a a regional workshop in Hammamet, Tunisia, on 18-20 September 2019, with the support of the UNDP Regional Programme for the Arab States, with the participation of 18 members of the Group and selected guest experts and activists in the field.
The meeting provided a specialized space for participants to get acquainted with the most important developments of the Arab Network in general and the NGO Group in particular, and discussed the efforts exerted to promote integrity and fight corruption at the regional and national levels in the Arab region, which enabled them to explore their strengths and weaknesses and identify priorities for an action plan for the Non-governmental group for the period 2020-2022.
In particular, the discussion focused on a series of priority topics, namely: (i) the complementarities between the role of the Group and the 2030 Global Agenda on Development Goals and how this integration can be invested in the work of the Group and its members; (3) involving the private sector in establishing principles and practices of integrity, and (4) ways to empower young people and mobilize their capacities in the face of corruption. In addition, the Regional Workshop provides an opportunity for participants to raise any other topics to consider whether to include them in the Action Plan or to devote other efforts to deal with them in the future.
